Overview

The Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy & Operations will serve as a key partner to the CMO and Marketing Leadership Team, helping accelerate business growth and move marketing transformation from strategy to execution.

This role will act as a central connector across the Marketing organization - helping coordinate high-priority initiatives, improve visibility into budgets and priorities, support team communications, evaluate and integrate new agencies and platforms, and advance AI-enabled ways of working.

The role will also serve as a liaison on select cross-functional projects with partners across IT, Finance, Merchandising, Retail Operations and other enterprise teams, helping ensure Marketing priorities are clearly represented and integrated into broader business initiatives.

Rather than owning integrated campaign planning, this person will focus on the special projects, operating rhythms and transformation initiatives that help the Marketing organization move faster, work smarter and deliver greater business impact.

 

Responsibilities

Growth & Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with the CMO and Marketing Leadership Team to identify and advance initiatives with the greatest potential to accelerate customer and business growth.
  • Lead high-priority marketing projects that span functions or do not naturally sit within one team.
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear workplans, milestones, owners and outcomes.
  • Identify roadblocks and dependencies early and help teams move from decision to execution faster.
  • Bring together data, external perspectives and internal expertise to help evaluate new growth opportunities.
  • Support business cases, pilots and recommendations for new marketing capabilities and investments.

Marketing Transformation & PMO

  • Help drive the marketing transformation agenda and maintain visibility into major initiatives, milestones and outcomes.
  • Establish pragmatic governance and operating rhythms that increase accountability without adding unnecessary process.
  • Track decisions, dependencies, risks and progress across transformation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify how Marketing works and remove friction that slows execution.
  • Build repeatable processes, playbooks and tools that help successful new capabilities scale across the organization.

Agency, Platform & Capability Integration

  • Support evaluation, selection and onboarding of new agencies, technology platforms and external partners.
  • Coordinate RFPs, capability reviews, demos, scorecards and implementation plans.
  • Serve as a liaison across Marketing, Procurement, Legal, Finance, IT and external partners during onboarding and integration.
  • Assess potential partners not only for capability and cost, but also for their ability to help accelerate growth, innovation and transformation.
  • Ensure new agencies and platforms move efficiently from selection to productive integration and measurable impact.
  • Maintain clear documentation and decision history for key vendor and platform relationships.

Innovation & AI Enablement

  • Partner with the CMO and functional leaders to identify emerging ideas, technologies and new approaches that could improve growth or marketing effectiveness.
  • Help prioritize AI opportunities across the Marketing organization based on potential business value.
  • Coordinate pilots, implementation, training and adoption of approved AI tools and new ways of working.
  • Capture results and lessons from pilots and help scale successful use cases.
  • Encourage a test-and-learn mindset that allows the organization to experiment quickly while maintaining appropriate governance.

Marketing Investment & Budget Management

  • Serve as the central marketing partner for budget visibility, working closely with Finance and functional marketing leaders.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of marketing budgets, commitments, forecasts and actual spend.
  • Establish regular budget reviews and proactively surface variances, risks and potential reallocation opportunities.
  • Support annual planning and ongoing forecasting in partnership with Finance.
  • Help evaluate investment trade-offs and ensure resources stay aligned with the highest-priority growth initiatives.
  • Track financial commitments associated with agencies, platforms and strategic projects.

Marketing Team Communications & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Support the CMO with communications that bring clarity and momentum to the marketing strategy and transformation agenda.
  • Help plan Marketing Leadership Team meetings, town halls, planning sessions and organization-wide updates.
  • Create concise, executive-ready materials that communicate priorities, decisions, progress and results.
  • Help ensure teams understand not just what the priorities are, but why they matter to the business.
  • Strengthen connectivity across marketing functions and reinforce shared accountability for growth.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce duplication and improve transparency across the Marketing organization.

Cross-Functional Liaison & Special Projects

  • Support high-priority Marketing initiatives that require coordination with IT, Finance, Merchandising, Retail Operations and other enterprise partners.
  • Represent Marketing requirements, timelines and dependencies within broader cross-functional projects.
  • Help translate enterprise decisions back into clear implications and actions for Marketing.
  • Coordinate workplans, decision points and follow-up for special projects that span multiple functions.
  • Surface risks, dependencies and resource needs early so projects stay on track.
  • Help transition successful pilots and new capabilities into sustainable Marketing processes.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, marketing operations, program management, strategy or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional projects in a retail, consumer, e-commerce or similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous initiatives and drive follow-through.
  • Comfort working with agencies, technology vendors and external partners.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience supporting budgets, forecasts or resource planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear executive-level materials.
  • Curiosity about emerging marketing technology, AI and new ways of working.
  • Experience with project-management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Workfront, Jira or similar platforms.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
